USU's MAE 5930 (Senior Design) class is in the process of designing and building a scale demonstration prototype
The Lunar/Planetary Surface Landing Research Vehicle (LPSLRV).
The Lunar Lander will be a terrestrial based simulator that will do the following:
- Be a quasiautonomous piloted flying vehicle
- Offset earth's gravity to simulate lunar gravity (5/6 g).
- Carry a payload of instruments (mainly a camera) to enable simulation of a lunar landing.
The LLRV prototype will be built and flight tested for NASA's systems engineering competition. This is the student operated site where we keep track of all of our work and other cool stuff. To see Dr. Whitmore's stuff see the course webpage.
